The Sunshine State Gets a Southern Favorite with New Dickey’s Barbecue Pit

Published: 06 Jan 2015

(Brooksville, FL) David Ambrose and Steven Phillips met in Brooksville over 10 years ago when their kids were growing up together. Ambrose was looking for a new business opportunity and Phillips’ restaurant experience made him the perfect business partner. Both men knew Hernando County was missing a southern staple, Dickey’s Barbecue Pit. On Thursday, January 8 at 11 a.m., Dickey’s Barbecue opens in Brooksville with a three day grand opening.

“Folks from Hernando County have been stopping by to let us know how much they’re looking forward to our opening – we can’t wait to serve up great barbecue and celebrate,” said first time owner, Steven Phillips. “I’ve worked as a restaurant manager for years, so I know a great brand like Dickey’s Barbecue will be a huge success here.”

The three day barbecue bash includes:

  • Thursday offers the first 50 dine in guests gift cards ranging from $5 to $50.
  • Friday includes t-shirts, tote bags and sunglasses when Dickey’s Barbecue Pit offers all day merchandise giveaways.
  • Saturday from noon to 2 p.m., guests can stop by for radio station Hits 106 when one lucky winner will be chosen for a $500 gift card and three winners receive free barbecue for an entire year. Guests also get a barbecue deal with $2 pulled pork barbecue sandwiches.

Ambrose and Phillips hope to open three more locations in surrounding Springhill. The new Dickey’s Barbecue in Brooksville is located at 19348 Cortez Boulevard and the phone number is 352.269.0019.
